On December 11, 2025, Ms. Chamaiporn Chuecharoen, President of the Asian International Trade and Investment Association (AITIA), led a delegation to meet with the Department of Commerce of Shanxi Province. The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Li Guorong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Commerce, along with senior executives and relevant officials, to reinforce long-standing bilateral ties and discuss future economic cooperation between Thailand and Shanxi Province.

The discussions began in a cordial atmosphere, with both parties reaffirming their relationship as “Old Friends.” This visit served as a pivotal moment to deepen the bond and solidify practical cooperation. Mr. Li Guorong noted that Thai products and Shanxi’s offerings are highly complementary, positioning Thailand as a significant trade market for the province. He expressed his commitment to using this meeting as a catalyst to transform the partnership between AITIA and the Shanxi Department of Commerce into more profound and concrete collaborations.

During the meeting, Ms. Chamaiporn extended a formal invitation to the Shanxi Department of Commerce and the local business community to participate in major international exhibitions scheduled to be held in Thailand in 2026. She also proposed establishing direct communication channels to facilitate the exchange of strategic information and maintain continuous dialogue in the future.
The outcomes of the meeting were highly promising. The Department of Commerce of Shanxi Province expressed keen interest in the upcoming events in Thailand. Mr. Li Guorong pledged to incorporate these programs into the provincial government’s official work plan to study and mobilize high-potential enterprises. This initiative aims to empower Shanxi businesses to penetrate the Thai and ASEAN markets more effectively.
Both parties reached a consensus to utilize Thailand’s exhibition platforms as a key mechanism for market expansion under the “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI) strategy. Following the successful discussion, both delegations took commemorative photos to mark this milestone in strengthening relations and opening new doors for strategic cooperation.
