On May 14, 2025, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) welcomed a delegation from the Department of Commerce of Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China, at Bangkok Port to discuss cooperation in logistics development, smart port technologies, and digital port management between Thailand and China.
The Chinese delegation was led by Ms. Deng Qian, Director of the Trade Development Service Center of Hubei Province, who met with Ms. Panitta Charoenphon, Deputy Director of the Port Authority of Thailand for Human Resource Management and Corporate Governance.
A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the development model of Yangluo Port, Wuhan’s main container port and one of the key inland logistics hubs along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The port has successfully transformed into a fully integrated Smart Port system.
The Hubei delegation shared experiences regarding the implementation of 5G and AI technologies in cargo handling, container management, and automated port operations, significantly improving operational efficiency, speed, and logistics performance.
Representatives from the Port Authority of Thailand also introduced the operational scope and strategic role of Bangkok Port while discussing potential cooperation under a future Port-to-Port Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at promoting knowledge exchange, technology collaboration, and bilateral trade development.
This exchange marked another important step toward strengthening Thailand–China logistics connectivity and supporting future growth in international trade, transportation, and regional investment.
The Asian-International Trade and Investment Association believes that cooperation in Smart Port technologies and logistics innovation will further enhance the long-term competitiveness of both countries.
