Guangzhou Commerce Bureau Visits AITIA to Strengthen Thailand–China Economic Cooperation

Bangkok, 2 July 2026 – The Asian International Trade and Investment Association (AITIA) welcomed a delegation from the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau to discuss new opportunities for strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Thailand and Guangzhou. The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between government agencies, business communities, and international trade exhibitions to foster sustainable business growth.

The delegation was led by Mr. Wang Xiaohua, First-Level Inspector of the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau, and Mr. Su Zhangyi, Deputy Director of the Bureau’s Commerce Division. During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on expanding bilateral economic cooperation and creating greater opportunities for Thai and Chinese enterprises to access new markets and strengthen commercial partnerships.
During the discussion, the Guangzhou delegation highlighted the city’s strong economic fundamentals. With a history spanning more than 2,200 years, Guangzhou has developed into one of China’s leading commercial and industrial hubs, generating a GDP of more than RMB 3.2 trillion. The city continues to demonstrate significant strengths in the automotive industry, smart home appliances, digital technology, and cosmetics, offering promising opportunities for collaboration with Thai businesses.

AITIA emphasized the importance of helping Chinese enterprises move beyond traditional cross-border e-commerce toward a localisation strategy in Thailand. Establishing local operations would enable businesses to reduce logistics costs, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen their long-term competitiveness within Thailand and the wider ASEAN market.
The Association also proposed using international trade exhibitions as a key platform for expanding business cooperation. Guangzhou enterprises were invited to participate in the Thailand E-Commerce Selection Expo 2026 (TESE 2026), which will be held from 6–8 August 2026. The exhibition will provide opportunities for business matching, partnership development, supplier sourcing, and investment expansion in Thailand.
Meanwhile, the Guangzhou delegation invited Thai food businesses to participate in Boutique Food Week, scheduled for 10–19 October 2026 in Guangzhou. The event aims to introduce more Thai food products to the Chinese market while promoting Thailand’s rich culinary heritage to international consumers, creating new export opportunities for Thai food entrepreneurs.
Both parties agreed to pursue long-term cooperation through a series of joint initiatives. AITIA will continue serving as a bridge between Thai government agencies and Guangzhou, facilitating investment promotion, business networking, information exchange, and future collaborative activities under the “Guangzhou to Thailand” initiative. The partnership is expected to provide a stronger foundation for sustainable business cooperation between the two economies.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Thailand and Guangzhou to deepening economic and commercial ties. Through stronger collaboration in trade, investment, innovation, and business development, both sides aim to create new opportunities for entrepreneurs while contributing to long-term economic growth and closer Thailand–China relations.
